Master of Arms

Raise four weapon skills to 400...? Not quite, but almost!! I have found the perfect place for a clothy such as myself to level their weapon skills. It won't get you to 400 -- unless you really like pain -- but I did level my weapons to about 350 with ease. I got to 380 with a great amount of boredom and some DVD watching to entertain myself.

The quest you need is Securing the Bait. There is quite a long chain to get there starting at the Nesingway Base Camp. Once you have completely finished there you will be told to go talk to Dorian Drakestalker at Dorian's Outpost. The quest wants you to break primordial drake eggs in the Savage Thicket, east of the camp. When the egg breaks it releases a primordial hatchling, which you can right click and collect for the quest. You can quite easily level your weapons skills on these eggs. They take a lot of hitting to break, I leveled up probably 100 points on one egg and there are plenty of eggs to level on. All you have to look out for are the Primordial Drakes, which don't really do that much damage and I generally was able to avoid most of the time. Just remember to collect the hatchlings after you have leveled all you want. I didn't test the theory, but I assume that you will no longer be able to hit the eggs.

Anyhoo! Back I go to punching eggs!!

Edit: So I pressed "Post" and about a minute later figured this one out. Looks like you can level up on these eggs without the quest. Or at least you can still level after completing the quest.

Happy leveling! /stab

Uncharted: Can I has mouse and keyboard?

I bought Uncharted the other day after months of wanting to play it but not having a PS3. Now finally I have one so after buying Little Big Planet it was the next game on my list. As I understand it, Uncharted is a Tome Raider/Indiana Jones inspired action adventure. Having never played Tomb Raider I can't speak to that. The Indy influence is definitely there though, with Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter in search of El Dorado. I am only three chapters in so far and I like it. One thing that I have come to realise -- and perhaps I should have already know this -- I really do suck a shooters when I have to use a controller. The platforming sections of the game so far have been a lot of fun. The developer Naughty Dog really did a great job of making me feel like I could fall at any moment. But I have already come to dread the the third-person shooting sections. This is no way a reflection on the game, I am pretty sure it just a reflection on how crappy I am with using a controller to shoot things.

Another -- I guess you could say -- necessary evil, is the cut scenes. I am sure they are great, I just get easily distracted in them and miss important information. Again, I should say, I generally don't like cut scenes. And I can see Naughty Dog were going for a kind of action adventure movie vibe, hence the "necessary evil". I did start liking them more as the game progressed, so that is a definite tick in the plus column, and it is more than I can say about some other games.

Anyway, so far, so good... can I has mouse and keyboard (or maybe I should just practice?).

Regina Spektor: The Call

I cannot get this song out of my head.

King of the Nerds!

Oh the memories... Jeff Green you rock!

Level 80? Don't wanna!

I am currently 1 and 3/4 levels away from dinging the big eight-o. Now a lot of people would say that this is pretty slow considering that the game came out in November. But I am trying to drag it out for as long as possible. It is also crazy that while getting an entire 8 levels and completing Borean Tundra I haven't moved passed Dragonblight and I am only halfway through Howling Ford. I haven't done a single quest in any other zone!!

So now I go back to procrastinating and doing useless achievements... oh and watching Gremlins.

The holidays are over!

*goes back into the past and puts in for more time off work*

Did it work? No? Damn! Oh well, the real question is did I achieve any of things that I set out to over the Christmas-New Year break? Answer: Kinda. In the true tradition of being me, I didn't really have any goals set. So I guess by default, I achieved what I set out to do. Hoorah! Well that's it for Real World (RW) so now I can blog about what I did and didn't achieve in World of Warcraft. So now, in no particular order I...

Got the Merrymaker title (with only hours to spare). I really did procrastinate about the last Winter Veil achievement I needed (With a Little Helper from My Friends) I am not sure what it is about PvP that I hate the thought of. When I am in a BG it's heaps of fun but I just cannot make myself want to queue up! Plus little people do freak me out some... and Gnomes are undeniably little.

Dinged Level 78! This wasn't really a goal, just a byproduct of playing. And seeing as I dinged 78, logic dictates that I also dinged 77! Yay for cold weather flying skill! And if you look really closely in the picture bellow you should be able to see...

Tabard of the Explorer!

And finally (this will be the end of this slightly boring picture posting, promise!) I got my Zhevra mount. Confirming my membership to, what I am sure is a very large group of people, who recruited themselves and payed to get yet another mount! Yay!

And that's what I did on my holidays!

WoW... I am lazy!

You know you have it bad when you can't even type the word "wow" (as in geewiz) without first typing it as WoW.

I have been slack, this I know... but hopefully this will be remedied soon (or not!) but stay tuned and maybe, just maybe I might blog about something soon.

P.S. This really isn't about anything and therefore doesn't count.
